Well, I've decided to leave Harry in the hospital for one more week. Next weekend, it's back in the fish tank for him. He's doing well, the fungus on his back and dorsal fin is most definitely dissapating, he's lively, puts up a good fight when I transfer him to the bucket while I get rid of his old water. Well, Harry is still alive, and he's looking much better! He's still in "hospital" but the black of the fungus on his back and fins is fading, and he's holding his dorsal fin high. He's eating well and swimming around vigorously.

I've been monitoring his progress, and I've been cleaning the water every day (or almost every day), so I think that has helped to fight the fin rot. Read more about Harry is on the mend...

Life with a cat is fun. No, not really.

So today Keena decided that it was time to bring a live grasshopper in to show dad. Well, let me tell you, dad was not impressed. And Keena didn't just bring it into the house, no, she had to bring it all the way up to the bedroom.

As if it's not enough that I already have pieces of dead cricket on my bedroom floor, as well as elsewhere in the house, from where she brought those in and played with them. Read more about Living with a cat...

Oh dear. When I got home yesterday evening I saw that someone had decided to have a go at eating Harry (the big orange fish). Most of his tail fins were gone and it looked like he'd been attacked. So I took him out of the fish tank and put him in another container with a floating plant and a rock.

This morning he seemed to be doing much better already. He was swimming around more actively and seemed on the whole a lot livelier. So we'll see how things go, see how he's doing when I get home. He'll either be dead, or he'll be getting better. Read more about More in the fish continuing saga...

DOOMED!!! Yes, ladies and gentleman, a once gloriously equipped laptop has fallen prey to a most insidious enemy- WINDOWS! (audience boos)

Unsuspecting owner, Hannah Rains, innocently began installing the software for her new camera, when suddenly- DUN DUN DUN!- catastrophe struck! It began with an error message, in the middle of the installation process, and then the real trouble began. Without her approval or consent, WINDOWS (boooooooo!!) restarted. Again. And again. And again. Read more about A once gloriously equipped laptop......

Well, today I was in the shopping centre, and there was a pet shop, so I decided to see what they had in the line of submarine creatures. And sure enough, they had some fantastic looking snails.

So, yours truly bought himself a snail. There were black and white ones, and the lady at the pet shop kinda dug out a white one before I had a chance to say yea or nay, but it's a beautiful snail none-the-less (never thought I'd say that!). Read more about The latest addition to the fish tank...

Well, last night I got home, proud to have my first oficially bought bottle of fish food, so all was happy. But as I walked in the door, I heard a horrible noise coming from the fish tank, one of the filters obviously. Read more about Life is full of learning: Fish tanks and fun...

Raoul and I just added two "books" to the site: one for my short stories, and one for my poetry. Feel free to check them out, and leave comments! You know, you can actually comment on any blog, photo, or story/poem...pretty much anything on the site, and you don't need an account either- so feel free!

Last week I went to the dentist and got a tooth pulled and a temporary filling. Tomorrow I'm going back and getting another tooth pulled, the first filling redone, and another filling. My mouth still hurts from the first time around, so as you can imagine, I'm NOT looking forward to it.

The dentist I'm going to is actually in Mexico, so it's a little over an hour's drive away. Again, not ideal, but it's inexpensive....so, it works.  Read more about Like a lamb to slaughter.......

"Retarded politicians!" was my frustration put into words, at which a friend commented that what I had said was tautology. Tautology? I looked up the definition and found, "Repetition of the same idea in different words". Yes.

The cause of my frustration? Some politician on his way to work this morning, on the N2, in his little convoy with police forcing cars out of the way so that they could drive, about 20 kph ABOVE the speed limit, unhassled. What's the deal? Read more about Tautology - Repetition of the same idea in different words...
